denture care tips

Do you know the best ways to care for your new dentures?

There is no question that folks who require dentures want them to be a clean, healthy, natural part of their life, and one of the best ways to accomplish this by properly caring for them and making sure to visit a dentist at least once a year for a routine checkup.

Just like natural teeth, plaque can also build up on dentures. For this reason, you will want to be sure to remove them daily and give them a thorough cleaning. If this is neglected, the color of dentures will fade over time, and an unpleasant odor could develop.

Padden Dental, specializing in cosmetic dentistry in Vancouver WA, would like to share several tips on how to properly care for new dentures to these issues don’t arise:

  • Fill the sink with warm water and then wash dentures the warm water. This will help to mitigate any risk of damage to the dentures if you are to drop them while giving them a proper cleaning.
  • After giving your dentures a good rinse in warm water to remove any food particles, use a denture cleaning to give them a good cleaning.
  • Be careful not to brush too hard when cleaning dentures, as you do not want to scratch or damage them.
  • While dentures are out of your mouth, use a fluoride toothpaste and mouthwash to clean your gums, tongue, and any natural teeth, before re-inserting the dentures.
